Dr. Sommers
Dr. Sommers completed both dental and orthodontic degrees at the University of Missouri at Kansas City and has been creating beautiful smiles in Minot since 1977. With the support of a dedicated staff, the Sommers team helps patients of all ages achieve better tooth alignment, bites and often better self-esteem. Dr. Sommers has worked to advance dentistry and orthodontics, serving in a variety of elected positions including president of the North Dakota Dental Association and North Dakota Society of Orthodontists. He has remained involved in community activities through the Minot Lions Club, First Presbyterian Church and the Minot Symphony Orchestra in which he plays violin. Dr. Sommers and his wife Rita enjoy four grown children and three grandchildren.

Hi I’m Julie. I am the Treatment Coordinator in Dr. Sommers office, I am also a Certified and Registered Orthodontic Assistant. I have been working for Dr. Sommers since 1986 but I actually started loving teeth and smiles way before that! My husband Greg and I have two beautiful daughters, one is in cosmetology school and our youngest will be attending the Air Force Academy. We have two dogs, a chocolate lab named Koko and a Westie named Hally. In my spare time I enjoy watching high school sporting events, scrap booking, golfing, spending time at the lake and playing on my iPad.
Hi, I’m Sandy. I am a Registered Orthodontic Assistant. I have been working for Dr. Sommers since 1986. I love my job and very much enjoy working with the patients we see each day. In my spare time you might see me enjoying a ride on one of my two Harleys or riding my horse Midnight. My horse now calls the Boys and Girls Ranch home. I also enjoy hunting of all kinds.
Hi! I’m Brenda. I have been working with Dr. Sommers office since 1993. I serve as the Insurance/Scheduling Coordinator ; I am happy to help you or answer any questions you may have. My husband Myron and I have two sons, Clint and Cody. Clint recently added to our family a wonderful daughter in law Tammy and a grandson Cole. We also have a spoiled Yorkie Poo named Charlie and a “Heinz 57”flood survivor named Howie. All the above keeps us very happy and busy! Myron and I enjoy riding our motorcycles and ATV’s on nice days.
Hi! I’m Sandy (a.k.a Dee). I have been a Certified/Registered Orthodontic Assistant for Dr Sommers since 1992. Dr. Sommers recently changed my position in the practice to be a part of the front desk helping Brenda out with scheduling, book work and correspondence. I have three grown children whom I enjoy spending time with in various activities. My oldest daughter, Taryn, is a cosmetologist in Minot. Torie, my second eldest is a photographer in the Minot area. My son Arie and his girlfriend Maryssa are college students at Minot State. They have a little boy named Izak who keeps us all very busy!
Hi I’m Shelly. I am a Certified Orthodontic Assistant. I’ve been with Sommers Orthodontics since 1995. I have called Minot my home for my whole life. I am a huge Elvis and Greenbay Packer fan- I’m always trying to figure out a way to wear green and gold to work! My husband Mark and I have a son whom just started his apprenticeship to be an electrician and a daughter who will become a sophomore in high school next year. We have a little dog named Libby.
Hi, my name is Janie. I have been an orthodontic assistant since 1989. I love being a part of making beautiful smiles! My husband and I have three grown children and four grandchildren. I enjoy singing with the musical groups Voices of Note and the Treble Makers. We like to travel and ride our motorcycle around scenic North Dakota.
Hi I’m Danni! I recently relocated to Minot from South Dakota. I am a Registered Dental Assistant and a cosmetologist. I have been dental assisting for the past five years and I absolutely love it! Troy and I have 2 girls Braylinn and Johee and 2 boys named Coby and Jordan. In my off time I love playing softball, shopping and rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Oh and watching Green Bay Packer Clay Matthews

I love to make peoples smiles change and to watch someone gain self-confidence. My husband Scott and I have a 3 year old daughter who is the light of our lives! In my spare time I love running and spending time outdoors.
Hi I’m Monica. I have been the Lab Technician for Dr. Sommers since 1992. I am responsible for fabricating the orthodontic appliances that we use in our office. My husband Jeff and I have two sons and a little Shitzu named Abby. We enjoy fishing and relaxing at our lake cabin on Lake Sakakawea.
